Recurring term-time lessons that skip the holidays, conflict checks with audited overrides, one-tap attendance from the teacher’s phone, and a cancellation policy that decides who is charged, who is paid and who is owed a make-up.
Day, week and month views of every teacher, room and group. Drag to reschedule, create a one-off or a recurring series, and let the calendar flag a double-booked teacher, room or student before you save. An override is allowed — sometimes two things really do happen at once — but it is written to the audit log with who did it and why.
On the Terms page one click adds a published year’s four government-school terms for your state or territory and the public holidays that fall on a school day, as closure dates that repeating lessons skip. Each October the next year is added automatically and the office is told; in January, July and October the public holidays are checked against the Australian Government’s dataset on data.gov.au, and only ever added — nothing you entered is renamed or removed. Switch the automation off if you prefer to enter terms by hand.
The teacher portal opens on today’s lessons. Present, absent, no-show or cancelled is one tap, and a group session has an “everyone was here” button. The school’s cancellation policy then decides what follows: whether the family is charged, whether the teacher is paid for the slot, and whether a make-up is owed. A newly recorded absence tells the office, with the make-up flow a tap away.
A lesson the policy marks “make-up eligible” — an absence, a cancellation in time, a teacher or school cancellation — grants the student one make-up entitlement against the missed lesson. The office, or the teacher when the school allows it, schedules the make-up against that entitlement, and the entitlement is used. Expiry follows your rule: the end of the term the lesson fell in, a number of days, or never. If the missed lesson was charged, the make-up is delivered free, so the family pays once either way.
Lesson reminders go out 24 hours before to families and, unless switched off, to the teacher — one per group session, by e-mail and by text for people who opted in. Teachers can receive a day-at-a-glance e-mail at 6 am on days they teach. Everyone can subscribe their phone calendar to a private iCalendar feed (Apple, Google, Outlook) that shows exactly the lessons they are allowed to see.
In the catalogue
One line each here; the full list, by group, is Everything Muzeqo provides. Each name opens its group there.
Day, week and month views of every lesson, filtered by teacher, host school, instrument, room or group, lesson type and status; open a lesson for attendance, notes and details.
One-off or repeating lessons (every so many weeks, by count or end date, term-time only), private or group, with teacher, students, lesson type, room, price and notes, and free start times suggested.
Teacher, student and room double-booking, availability and capacity warnings on every booking; an authorised admin can override with an audited reason.
Repeating lessons run inside term dates and skip the school’s closure days, each host school’s days off and public holidays.
Follow your state’s government school terms and gazetted public holidays (regional holidays tickable), or define terms by hand.
Late in the year the next year’s terms and holidays are added for schools following a state, and public holidays are rechecked against the Australian Government dataset through the year.
Add a school closure, host-school day off or teacher leave, see the lessons that fall inside and cancel them in one go under the normal policy and notices.
Ahead of a closure or term break, the families and teachers who normally have a lesson then, and the office, are told in-app, by e-mail and by text.
Named teaching spaces with capacity and equipment; the calendar warns when two lessons would share a room (an authorised admin can override with an audited reason), and a Room utilisation report shows booked hours against operating hours.
Private, group, trial or other, in person or online, with length, standard price, instrument, taxable flag and default invoice schedule.
A standard instrument list to start from; add your own and hide the ones you don’t teach.
A lesson type can be online, a teacher keeps a usual Zoom, Meet or Teams link and a lesson can carry its own; families get a Join button around start time and the link appears in reminders and calendar feeds.
Teachers set weekly hours, extra hours and leave; scheduling warns outside them and family booking only offers times inside them.
Today’s lessons in time order with one-tap attendance, today’s host school with directions, teaching hours, and a week view with group sessions collapsed.
Families are reminded in-app, by e-mail and text; teachers get one per session (switchable) with the host-school address or meeting link.
Early each teaching day the teacher gets one e-mail with the day’s lessons, places and links as a timetable.
Everyone subscribes Apple, Google or Outlook to a private iCalendar link of exactly the lessons they may see, recent and months ahead, revocable, with a school-wide switch.
Families pick from genuinely free slots inside the teacher’s hours, term time and notice period and request (or in instant mode book) a lesson or make-up; the office approves or declines and sets lead time and which teachers and lesson types may be booked.
Mark present, absent, no-show or cancelled (in time, late, teacher or school cancelled) with an optional staff-only reason, for one student or a whole group at once.
Notice hours and what late, teacher and school cancellations do to charge, credit and teacher pay, and whether parents may cancel from the portal; the outcome is explained before anyone confirms.
An eligible absence grants one make-up with an expiry (by term, days or never); the office books it pre-filled against the missed lesson so the family is never charged twice, and families see what is owed and are reminded before it lapses.
When the school allows it, teachers offer a make-up from suggested free slots or group sessions straight from the lesson page.
Lessons by week (scheduled, completed, cancelled, no-shows), student attendance, teacher hours and utilisation against availability, and room utilisation, each exportable to CSV.

Questions
Only if you want them to. A series marked term time only skips every closure date — holidays, public holidays, and anything else the office adds, such as a concert day.
Teachers mark attendance, write notes and manage their availability. Scheduling is an office task by default; the school can allow teachers to schedule make-ups.
Your cancellation policy decides. A typical rule charges a late cancellation, pays the teacher for the slot and grants no make-up; an in-time cancellation does the opposite. Every rule is configurable under Settings → Cancellation policy.
